FOSDEM’08: “Tux with Shades, Linux in Hollywood”

Robin Rowe and Gabrielle Pantera will give a talk on the use of Linux in the Hollywood film industry. Apparently, most major studios have moved to using Linux for their (heavy) computing needs. There is also an interview with Robin as preFOSDEM material as well as a topic in LinuxJournal about DreamWorks animation using Linux to produce “Shrek the Third”.

The other thing (more interesting for photography) is that Robin Rowe is the main developer behind Cinepaint’s next generation, Glasgow. Now Glasgow could do with more help, so let’s hope that this talk will bring some interest on Cinepaint and Glasgow.
