Holgas are cheap Chinese Medium Formats camera that are affected by about every optical default you can think of. Just like the Lomo, this was bound to create a momentum with artists using these cameras and that is exacly what happened.
Now since it is quite easy to degrade a photo there is a Holga plugin for the Gimp that does a bit more than the Lomo one – blurring, a fairly sophisticated vignetting addition as well as a borders.

Here is what is spit out of the Dana-Holga2b plug-in. I just moved the stretch value to 0 to avoid an image resizing – and artifacts in the oblique lines in the front. Remember this is about serious photography…
All in all, this looks like a very realistic view of what you would expect from a plastic medium format. I love digital photography 🙂
